Important CTeL Advocacy Update: Urging CBO to Score Telehealth

CTeL Calls for CBO to Officially Score Telehealth
|
CTeL-
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) plays a crucial role in determining the future of telehealth by estimating how much it costs Medicare. But here’s the problem—their data is outdated and doesn’t reflect today’s reality.
The last time CBO evaluated telehealth, virtual care was in its infancy. Today, we have decades of research proving telehealth expands access, reduces costs, and improves patient outcomes—yet policymakers are still relying on old assumptions that could limit access to care.
That’s why CTeL is leading a collective sign-on letter urging Congress to request a new CBO score that reflects telehealth’s true cost-saving potential.
Why does this matter? If Congress doesn’t act, Medicare’s telehealth flexibilities could disappear, making it harder for patients—especially seniors—to access care when and where they need it.
Who should sign? If you're a healthcare provider, hospital, digital health company, insurer, or patient advocate, this directly impacts you. A new CBO score could help secure telehealth’s future and prevent harmful restrictions.
